Cerner

Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the implementation of a new EHR, Electronic Health Record, called Cerner.  This EHR will enable advanced technology that will improve quality, safety and processes for the care we provide to our community.  Susan Diddlebock, Chief Nursing Officer, states, “The relationship between Cerner and Memorial Hospital is built on improving care to the community that we serve.  We are constantly working to improve outcomes and this EHR will provide a great basis for the service we provide.  It also aids in uniting the patient and healthcare givers, to work on the same goal, improving health.”

Memorial Hospital and their Rural Health Clinics, in Chester and Steeleville, went live with Cerner on February 26, 2018. Training teams from Cerner have spent months working with staff and department directors on the new system. The teams worked together to develop paths of integration that will make workflow more efficient.

Cerner will allow communication between staff and departments to be more efficient, which will assist in improving continuity of patient care. With the new program, medical records will be readily available for doctors and medical staff to view at any Memorial Hospital location. Patients will also see improvements in the hospital’s billing process. More streamlined invoices will lessen patient confusion with their medical bills. Patients will have the ability to pay their bills on-line as well through the Patient Portal, making it easier and more convenient. Also, with the new system, patient appointment reminders via text will be available.

Cerner’s slogan is, “Healthcare is too important to stay the same.”  Memorial Hospital feels the same way.  The Memorial Hospital staff is excited to be able to offer this new level of patient care, with a vision of Building A Healthier Community.
