Dr. James Murphy, M.D.
Dr. Murphy joins us from the Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois. Dr. Murphy is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. He is the only such Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Southern Illinois area. In addition to completing a full orthopaedic residency, he completed an extra year of training dedicated to Foot and Ankle problems. While new to the area, Dr. Murphy is not new to orthopaedics. He finished his residency in 2003 and has been treating patients with his unique skill set and compassion for the past 16 years.
Dr. Murphy completed his Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the world renowned James Andrews Clinic in Birmingham, AL. There he learned to help athletes of all ages, from grade school, to the NBA, to weekend warriors. Dr. Murphy has also worked closely with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and Women's Tennis Association. (WTA).
Dr. Murphy has been on the forefront of ankle arthritis treatment since the early 2000's. He was one of the surgeons who did research in the design and technique of ankle replacements. He can offer an array of treatments from medicine and bracing, to injections, to arthroscopy, to major surgery such as fusion or ankle replacement.

Dr. Murphy will begin holding general orthopedic clinics at Memorial Hospital on July 14.
