The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has rated Memorial Hospital of Chester a five star hospital. In a release on July 31, 2020, 266 hospitals throughout the United States were listed as five star hospitals on Hospital Compare. These rankings were assigned based on patient experiences collected by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey data collected between January 1 and December 31 of 2019. A total of 3,478 hospitals were given star rankings with 266 (8%) receiving five stars, 1,120 (32%) receiving four stars, 1,479 (43%) receiving three stars, 528 (15%) receiving two stars, and 85 (2%) receiving one star.
The one-to-five-star ranking scale is based on 10 publicly reported measures in the HCAHPS survey, which is administered to a random sample of adult patients across all types of medical conditions between 48 hours and six weeks post discharge and assesses patient experience. The HCAHPS survey asks patients to rate communication, discharge and care transition, their environment, and provide an overall ranking. Memorial Hospital is honored to be one of 12 hospitals in the state of Illinois to receive a five star rating, scoring above average in communication categories, staff assistance and attentiveness, discharge information, and overall ratings. “Our mission at Memorial Hospital is a commitment to professional excellence in providing safe, quality healthcare, compassion and service to patients, the community and each other,” states Brett Bollmann, CEO.
“Being a 5-star rated hospital is a group effort. Our team works hard to provide the best quality care possible for every patient, every day and it shows.”
