Memorial Hospital Conducts Annual Decontamination Operations Training

Memorial Hospital's Decon Operations Team participated in its annual Decontamination Operations Training on October 9, 2026, reaffirming the hospital's commitment to emergency preparedness and community safety.
Decontamination teams play a critical role in responding to incidents involving hazardous materials, whether originating within a healthcare facility or from external events that result in contaminated individuals requiring medical care. Annual training ensures team members remain proficient in the specialized procedures, equipment, and safety protocols needed to respond effectively during these high-risk situations.
The training provided staff with hands-on experience deploying equipment, reviewing response procedures, and practicing coordinated decontamination operations in a realistic training environment. Through exercises such as these, participants strengthen their ability to work efficiently as a team while maintaining the highest standards of patient and staff safety.
This training builds upon Memorial Hospital's longstanding focus on emergency preparedness, including previous regional decontamination exercises conducted in collaboration with neighboring healthcare organizations and emergency management partners. By regularly evaluating and refining emergency response capabilities, Memorial Hospital continues to enhance its readiness for a wide range of emergency scenarios.

Participants in the training included Georgia Stipe, Emergency Management Preparedness Coordinator; Charlie Bargman, Decon Team Leader; Michael Whitt; Maribeth Golding; Torrie Davitz; Amanda Johnson; Amanda Rhyne; Aaron Anthmer; Zach Dunker; and Emily Friess.
Memorial Hospital remains dedicated to ongoing training and preparedness initiatives that help ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and the communities it serves.
