Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of the VenaSeal™ procedure, a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins, now offered by Dr. Ziya Baghmanli, General Surgeon. The new service provides patients in the region with a modern treatment option designed to relieve symptoms of venous disease and improve quality of life.

Varicose veins affect millions of adults and can cause symptoms such as aching, heaviness, swelling, fatigue, throbbing, and discomfort in the legs. Left untreated, venous disease may progress and impact daily activities and overall well-being.

The VenaSeal™ procedure works by using a specially formulated medical adhesive to permanently close a diseased vein. Blood is naturally redirected to nearby healthy veins, helping reduce symptoms and improve circulation. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and typically requires only a small access site.

"The addition of the VenaSeal procedure allows us to offer patients a convenient treatment option close to home," said Dr. Baghmanli. "Many people assume varicose veins are only a cosmetic concern, but they can also cause significant discomfort and affect a person's quality of life. This procedure offers an effective solution with minimal downtime."

Patients who may benefit from an evaluation include those who experience visible varicose veins, leg aching, heaviness, or fatigue, swelling in the legs or ankles, leg discomfort that worsens after standing for long periods, and symptoms associated with venous reflux disease.

Because a physician referral is required, patients interested in learning whether they are candidates for the procedure should speak with their primary care provider or referring physician.
