Memorial Hospital Earns Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval®

Memorial Hospital is proud to announce it has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®, a nationally recognized symbol of quality that reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality healthcare to the communities it serves. This achievement continues Memorial Hospital’s history of accreditation and demonstrates the organization's dedication to meeting The Joint Commission’s rigorous standards for patient care and safety.
The Joint Commission accredits and certifies healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in patient care, safety, and operational performance. Accreditation is earned through a comprehensive evaluation process that examines how hospitals deliver care, protect patients, maintain safety standards, educate patients and families, and continuously improve quality.
In addition to maintaining its Gold Seal of Approval®, Memorial Hospital continues to be recognized as a patient rated 5-Star National Rural Rating System (NRRS) Hospital, placing it among only 20 hospitals nationwide to receive this distinction. Together, these recognitions reflect Memorial Hospital’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional rural healthcare close to home.
“These achievements are a direct result of the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated every day by our staff,” said Brett Bollmann, CEO of Memorial Hospital. “From our clinical teams and providers to support services, administration, environmental services, maintenance, registration, food services, volunteers, and every department in between, quality care is only possible because of the people who make up the Memorial Hospital team. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to our patients, our organization, and our community.”
Memorial Hospital's mission is to provide safe, quality healthcare, compassion, and service to patients, the community, and one another. That mission is supported by organizational values that place patients first, prioritize safety, promote respect and integrity, and drive continuous improvement. These principles guide every interaction and every decision made throughout the organization.
For more than six decades, Memorial Hospital has served as a trusted healthcare resource for the region. Today, the hospital continues to invest in facilities, services, technology, and workforce development to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves. Serving a primarily rural region of more than 41,000 residents across Southern Illinois and neighboring Missouri communities, Memorial Hospital remains committed to providing advanced healthcare services close to home while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
"Accreditations and awards are important, but they are really a reflection of something much greater," Bollmann added. "They represent thousands of everyday actions taken by our employees to care for patients, support families, and improve lives. We thank every member of the Memorial Hospital team for making achievements like these possible and for continuing to fulfill our mission each day."
