Education

Chester, IL is home of the Yellow Jackets. We have one public high school and three elementary schools, Chester Grade School, St. John Lutheran School, and St. Mary's Catholic School. Residents of Chester also have access to a variety of private High Schools that are within a 20-45 minute driving distance.

Chester students have the option to attend junior college to the north and south such at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville and John A. Logan College in Carterville. There are two Universities less than 60 minutes away from Chester, Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL and South Eastern Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO

At the high school level students have the opportunity to take advanced AP classes and complete college credit course with their high school curriculum. There are many social clubs and sports available for students of all ages and interests.
